Businesses in Singapore need a new generation of franchising experts to achieve its ambition of becoming Asias franchise business hub and the Singapore Economic Development Board will support companies that franchise their business to train their employees in the skills needed to achieve this. Franchising is big business in Singapore, contributing 15 percent to gross domestic product every year.
From 2003 to 2004, the number of franchisors increased by 10 to 20 percent, making it one of the fastest growing sectors in the Singapore economy. EDB said it would provide partial funding for franchising companies who sponsor their employees to do the course, but it declined to reveal the actual amount.
